I have been trying to get sick and finally succeeded. I don't know what it is, but my throat hurts, my nose is stopped up and I am coughing like crazy. All of this has set my asthma off badly. This morning at 5:00 am I woke up wheezing and thought I was going to have to go to the ER. Cold water made it worse. A warm bath made it better. After the bath, I reason that a good cup of herbal tea should really sooth things. I had some fennel I cut yesterday. Smells like
licorice should taste nice and feel good. NO, DO NOT DO THIS. Fennel tea tastes like grass and dirt. How do I know what grass and dirt taste like? I am a gardener - I know exactly what grass and dirt taste like. I know some of you will tell me that a little dirt is good for you. Might be so, but I still don't enjoy it. I do like the taste of our little annual winter rye grass and I love wheat grass. This taste, however, was some kind of skunk weed and should never be ingested by a person. As soon as it gets light outside, I am going to go find some chocolate mint. I know that will make good tea.
Eeeewwww, Debbi, that's really appalling! Better head to the store and get some Breathe Easy or Tension Tamer tea instead--they both taste great and will help you relax! (So will, ahem, fennel SEED tea...) Feel better soon!!!
ReplyDeleteI just planted chocolate mint about a week ago. My favorite mint. Sorry to hear about your symptoms. Allergies, you suppose? I too have asthma, and if it's going to flare up into bronchitis, this is certainly the time of year I am most prone to it. Hope you feel better soon!

(smiling and shaking head) Even when you're feeling sick you're funny. Hope you get better soon! -Jen :)
ReplyDeleteThyme's good for throats Debbi, but I'm sure you knew that already?
ReplyDeleteYou need to come over to my place to collect an award on Friday. Hopefully Google will behave itself and my post dated for then will pop up and all will be revealed!
ourfriendben, okay I now have the bebejebees. I went to the Dr. and pharmacy to fill my prescriptions before reading my comments. While filling my prescriptions, I bought the Tension Tamer tea. How did you get in my head. I had never seen it before today.
ReplyDeleteBrenda, Enjoy the chocolate mint. Maybe allergies definitely asthma. Dr. blamed the weather. Who knows.
Jen, thanks.
ReplyDeleteHi VP, I am all tingly with anticipation. Thank you. I actually did not know about the thyme. I will go get some out of the garden right now.
Heh...sorry you're feeling crummy, but that's a funny story! I think radishes taste like dirt-spoiled, rancid dirt! Hope you're feeling better and you get some tasty tea going!
ReplyDeleteThanks Lisa, I am feeling better the doctor gave me good meds. I like radishes, but my boys won't touch them.
ReplyDeleteMMM. Dirt? Ok, maybe not! Sorry to hear you aren't feeling well, I hope you get better soon.
ReplyDeleteThanks cinj.
ReplyDeleteMy friend brought me some herbal tea when I was sick. Some eucalyptus? Nasty. Felt so bad I had to give it back to her.
ReplyDeleteWhy is it herbal tea that is supposed to make you feel better tastes awful? Hope the chocolate mint tasted nicer!
I know how you feel. We've got so much pollen right now that you can write your name in it. It looks like chalk dust everywhere. I hope you feel beter soon.
ReplyDeleteThanks Nancy,
ReplyDeleteI think I may have had about a gallon of Tension Tamer with lemon and honey.

ReplyDeleteDebbie ! my god girl .. you must have been in bad shape .. allergy season brings on seasonal asthma to me too .. but so far I haven't asked for the puffer. You need a good herbal tea that tastes just right .. with a bit of honey to soothe your throat .. and yes .. all gardeners know what dirt and grass tastes like ! LOL .. I don't want to know how much I have gone through in my life .. plus .. 5 pounds of cat fur YIKES ! haha
ReplyDeleteJoy (Take care girl !)
Thanks Joy, I am feeling much better this morning. I have been drinking tons of actual store bought herbal tea plus chocolate mint from the garden. I suppose that was a better choice than bourbon.
