The Golden Hay Bale

The hay bale knew it was destined for greater things than being eaten by bovines. So on the way to the farm, he jumped off of the truck and made a mad dash for freedom. But that left him stuck in the ditch. How would he get to the other side, the greener side? He thought he could hitch hike, but discovered he had no thumbs.

Night came and he began to fear the arrival of thieving gardeners who would come pull him apart to fulfill their evil dreams of free mulch and compost.

He saw flickering lights that grew larger and larger. The hay fairies had shown up to transform him into a golden carriage for Cinderella. They had saved him from the fate of cow chow and mulch.

Thanks to everyone who played in the comments. This is your story, not mine.

  1. Boy, you have a stimulating mind, my dear! You always come up with stuff that I'm thinking: why can't I ever come up with something totally different like that? You continually amaze me. (Oh, and I told the rain to go that way; but don't blame me if it doesn't. Mother Nature seems to be a fickle creature!)

  2. Hi Brenda, all I did was string together all the comments from the "what the hay" post and give the bale a gender.

  3. Cute tale Deb. Everyone gave you the answers but only you could turn it into a happily ever after story. :)

  4. I'm so glad the hay bale gets to have a happy ending! I've got a bale of hay in my back yard that is waiting to be used for mulch/compost. I hope the hay fairies do not get to it before I can!
Clever story I might add. :-)

  7. Well, I just hope Cinderella's heading out Hawk's Haven way, so when the carriage turns back into a hay bale at midnight, I can use it to mulch my chicken yard!
