The little water garden was pretty gross. Leaves and other stuff had fallen into it and settled on the bottom. We had tried to clean it by taking out about half of the water and replacing it. All that did was stir up the mess. That pair of monkeys in the picture completely cleaned it out for me. We used the dirty fish water to fertilize in the vegetable garden.
This is a lot better.

Debbie .. the monkies did GOOD girl !
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat idea with this water garden : )
Horray for the monkeys. I wish I had a fish pond to get some water for my veggie garden. So many wants, so little time and money.
ReplyDeleteI envy you with being able to have fish all year long. I have cold winters and have to have a deep pond for the fish to survive. So for now my pond is fishless and full of snow at this moment.. :(
ReplyDeleteGreat Monkeys you have there! I have to do that too. Mine gets full of leaves and junk over the winter time.
ReplyDeleteOh, it's beautiful now, Deb! I think you just gave me an idea for an old crock I have out on the gazebo...

Thanks Joy
ReplyDeleteCinj, this container set up is pretty easy.
Tink, I don't think we had more than a little ice on the top of this all winter
Cindee, I was surprised by the mess. The fish are much happier now.
Brenda, I bet a crock would make a very nice little water garden.
Very smart to re-use the water! I just drained mine oto the concrete last year-duh!
ReplyDeleteBTW...Cinj, my water garden is just a couple old galvanized wash tubs on legs, you can find those pretty cheap most of the time.
ReplyDeleteLisa, that's good plant food. Mine water garden is a half whiskey barrel, very cheap.
ReplyDeleteMake your own fish emulsion. I love it! :)
ReplyDeleteMonica, Fish poo tea;)
