Mother Nature, Please Accept My Appology
Well, I had a fit and fell in it yesterday about our late freeze. Now I feel really bad about all the nasty things I said about Mother Nature. Today is lovely. The temperature is the nice kind of warm on the cool side and something smells wonderful. Turns out it is a combination of roses in bloom and petunias. Somebody should make a perfume based on these scents. I took a stroll around my yard and found that many of my roses are blooming. I feel like a bad teenager who talked back to her mom. I ought to be grounded.
Thanks Mother Nature. Sorry about yesterday.
The flowers (mostly roses) in the collage are from the top left clockwise are Maggie, some rose that grew from the wood stock of a grafted tea rose, Duchess de Brabrant, Sombreuil, can't remember the name of that antique rose, Mutabilis bush, Mme Joseph Schwartz, a yellow snap dragon and Abby's butt, in the center is a sage that is shrubby and stands about 4' tall.
Now go over and see what James and Shala are giving away today.

Hey Debbi! If I were you, I'd be feeling triumphant, not apologetic. Maybe your good talking-to brought old Mom to her senses! It's awfully cold and dreary here today and I was just ut giving her a little pep talk. Nice, nice roses, btw!
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm still mad at her. 25F this morning, and the sheet blew off one of my J. maples. The weather is better now though.~~Dee

ReplyDeleteMother Nature, like all mothers wwith their children, will forgive you. I'm so glad the garden is blooming, aren't flowers just wonderful?
ReplyDeleteOFB, I really acted like a brat.
ReplyDeleteDee, my red dirt sister, if I hadn't gotten such a beatiful day, I would still be mad at mom too.
Foxy, I hope so. I would sure hate it if she took it out on my tomatoes. Yes, the blooms were wonderful today.
Debbie ... I woke up to MORE snow .. I'm not on speaking terms with mother nature yet girl : (
ReplyDeleteDon't feel too bad--it's still cold here, but sunny!
ReplyDeleteOur temps dropped down to 35 degrees last night and it is still a bit breezy & cool this morning with highs in the 50's expected today. Crazy April weather!
ReplyDeleteI'm not apologizing, I'm still mad. My cannas and bananas had only started to recover, now they are a mass of brown. It got my tiny tender new Rose of Sharons, too, now I gotta replant. Some of my purple oxalis got nipped back, too, but I think it will recover.
ReplyDeleteGood apology. Let's hope she heard. Love your roses!
ReplyDeleteI'm reading along, and come to "Abby's butt." Is that really what it's called? I immediately thought of my Abi with an "i" and how many photographs of the garden I've probably shown with her tail-less butt staring right at you!
ReplyDeleteBrenda
I understand...and I think Mother Nature understands too. It was a beautiful day, just a cold night. Hopefully spring is really here and the cold days are behind us..please, please, please Mother Nature!!
ReplyDeleteJoy, Apparently all of Mother Nature's gardening daughters are a bit miffed.
ReplyDeleteMonica, at least there is some sun shine.
Nola, The oxalis should be fine. Manly Man's banana is a mess. Durn.
Linda, Do you think she will listen this time?
I had a few choice words for Mother Nature two...none of them are printable.
ReplyDeleteShe took out all of my plum crop, and about half of my peaches, but the rest could still fall off.
My yard is filled with brown crunchy leaves and wilted flowers. My rose bushes were in full bloom and the big blooms and buds are pointing toward the ground.
I covered the garen, and the tomatoes had wall-o-waters, so all is well there.
I'm just hopin' mother nature dudn't hold a grudge...
v.
V, I wish I had put out wall-of-waters for my tomatoes. A lot of them have a little tip burning.
