The Yelow Rose of Texas Part II

I made a phone call and did a little more research. Apparently, sometime this year, Nacogdoches rose, which was renamed Grandma's Yellow, will be declared the offical Yellow Rose of Texas. Nothing I read claims this designation has already happened. It is a beautiful, pure, bright yellow. This is a discovered rose, so I couldn't find a date.

  1. Everybody outside of Texas thinks it's the Lady Banks! Did Nagadoches get the rose cause Oprah was there once?

  2. Anna, There is a wild debate around here about what the original Yellow Rose of Texas may or may not be. Lady Banks is a beauty and definitely an old rose. Don't know about any Oprah connection. The new designation seems to have something to do with the color of the rose and its Earth Kind status. As they don't have a year of developement it may or may not be the one.

  5. That is wonderful news! I love yellow roses--and love the song and always wondered if there was a true "yellow rose" for Texas! Thanks for such interesting information Debbi!

Joy, you have absolutely no idea how seriously we take this stuff. It borders on silly.

Linda, It really is a pretty rose.
