Here is our ditch. You might call this the ditch of misfit plants. If they didn't fit in anywhere else in our yard, I put them in the ditch. I have big plans for this narrow strip of dirt. Purple cone flowers, Shasta daisies, bronze fennel, and a candle stick tree. I know, I know yellow and pink is a horrible color combination, but what do you except from the ditch of misfit plants?
I bet it will be beautiful and the plants will love it there!
ReplyDeleteI think it will be a beautiful ditch when you get done with it Deb. :)
ReplyDeleteYour ditch already looks better than most people's gardens, Debbi!
ReplyDeleteAww, who ever said that all plants need to match anyway? It'll be like the island of the misfit toys on Rudolph, the misfits can end up being important!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a pretty nice ditch to me. Just throw in a little blue with the pink and yellow and you will be fine! :)
ReplyDeletewhat a great place to put plants that need a home. And it deters erosion. lol
ReplyDeleteSheila, It will be colorful.
ReplyDeleteRacquel, I hope it pulls together.
OFB, Thanks dude.
Cinj, congratulations, you caught the reference.
Linda, I miss typed. It is orange, not yellow. Do you still think blue will help, or does it need red?
Hi Heather, Nice to meet you. Checked out your blog. Did you kow I want a goat?
Debbie girl ! .. I used to have a bed of misfit plants .. now I have to reorganize .. but I still think it is a must have in a garden .. some where you need to PARK misfit plants until you figure out what to do with them .. right ?
ReplyDeleteI post a little blurb I found about peonies and ants back at my place .. I know it is a divided question .. but this blurb is a good solution to it all !
Actually, yellow and violet are complementary colors (across from each other on the color wheel) and violet is almost pink, so, there! They go together! Though I like the idea of a misfit ditch.
ReplyDeleteJoy, going to check out your blurb.
ReplyDeleteMonica, Your right purple and yellow do go together, but that is more orange and pink. My eye doesn't like it too much. When they day lilies are spent the roses will have it too themselves. My plan, if there is one, is to make a complete riot of color that would embarass my grandmother.
I don't happen to think it's a terrible color combination. In fact, there isn't a color combination I don't like for one reason or another!
