It is Safe to Come Back

After a good nights sleep, an afternoon nap and some light gardening, Aunt Debbi is all better. The monkeys behaved well today. I even took one of them to a recruiting meeting and he didn't pull any stunts.

I partially installed my second rain barrel this afternoon. I say partially, because we were not able to get the down spout off of the gutter. Manly will take care of it for me, I am sure. As soon as it is finished, my rainwater storage capacity will double.

A quick note on Monday's meeting. Paul Riddell came to speak to the KCMGA about carnivorous plants. He actually kept that group quiet they were so interested. Keep a couple of our master gardeners quiet is sometimes a challenge. One member whispered to me that we need a video camera, she was that impressed.

I was finally able to pot up some of the plants I received from Nola. A fewer random pots to trip over on the deck YEAH. Here is what I am thinking, I received seeds and plants from Nola who received seeds and plants from Linda and Brenda. So now I should give a few seeds away and maybe a surprise. To get plants you gotta come see me. So leave me a comment and a link and I will send you some seeds. I have enough for the first ten people who post a comment.

Hurry before I run out.

As I read this agan in the a.m. I see a big, glaring ommision. I forgot about Monica and here fantastic progressive seed exchange a few months ago. I extend this offer of seeds in her name as well.

  4. I don't need seeds but thank you. I do hope you are feeling rested for sure.

We had so much rain this afternoon that it blew our gutter attachments right off. We have a few gutters with those hose like attachments on the ends. It helps slow the water flow so that ruts aren't made in your lawn. Well so much for that. The rain came down in buckets and now I have ruts.

  6. Debbi, thanks for the offer of seeds, but since I already have some from you-I will pass. By the way they seem to be doing well. Will let you know when I get them transplanted into the garden, Sounds like a fun talk and very interesting. Good for you, getting another rain barrel!

  7. Since I've been dropping and by and enjoying your blog for a while (discovered you through Meadowview Thymes), I figured now was as good as time as any to come out of hiding :-) I'm not coming out for the seeds, please don't doom those darlings by sending them to me ;-) I'm just going to enjoy the beauty the seeds bring through Meadowview Thymes' post :D

  8. So, I'm wondering. Have you ever been able to calculate how much water you save by using rain barrels? I mean here in Portland, it rains like cats and dogs (the large sized!) so I'm sure my barrels would overflow in some seasons (like right now!). They would be useful in winter when my hoses are put away- except for the greenhouse, using warmer water is best for the plants. I've thought about getting one.

  9. Good for you Deb, adding another rainbarrel will be beneficial to your pocketbook as well as your plants! I have six now which in the summer really helps! :)

  11. Well, looks like I missed the boat. But I've got so much going on out in that yard I don't even know where I'd put anything else. As it is, as of this morning, we've moved container plants temporarily all over the yard. Looks like a jungle.

  12. That is a great idea. From now on, I think every time someone gives me something, I will, in turn, pass something along to someone else. I like sharing plants and seeds as much as I like getting them!
