The Trouble with Shopping Bags

Posted by Picasa

The shopping bags are taking over. It started out innocently enough. I knitted four to take to the grocery store. Then I forgot them and bought four to take to the grocery store. Then another bag was issued at the state master gardener conference. Then I won one from the lovely Anna. Then the local garden club gave me one for speaking at a meeting. Now I think they have reached sexual maturity and a procreating in the back seat of my truck.

Come back tomorrow and I will give three of the handmade bags away. The Monkeys will chose the winners.

  1. Ha! Tomorrow we're voting on a "bag tax" here in Seattle. 20 cents on every bag, plastic or paper--that you take at the grocery store. Those knit bags look great!

  2. Curmudgeon, If you want, I will make you one. They are great for farmers' market day.

  3. But you know...I love shopping bags. I hate using the kind you have to throw away--environment thing I guess. Can you give us the pattern for the knitted one? (not that I am a good enough knitter to make it, but you never know!) :)

  4. Debbie girl .. there is something wrong with your feed in Blotanical .. I can't "pick" your posts it comes up with an error screen .. I don't know if you already know this ?
Love the bags .. don't worry, I won't whine about how you can't send them to the Great White North : ) LOL

We are taxed the 20 cents here for bags .. but we bought a lot of reusable bags .. and what plastic bags we do have they are recycled as garbage bags .. plus we have all the "green" waste methods involved too .. phew !
    Joy : )

  5. Great timing--I've been using cloth bags for a while now, but a few are getting a little worn out... would love to be entered in your bag lady giveaway! :) )P.S. The MG bags tend to be pretty sturdy.)

  6. Debbi, I was just thinking the same thing at my house. I've never knitted one though. They look like French shopping bags.~~Dee

  7. OMG you are so funny. Why don't you make them and sell them onsite? I'd buy one! And I'd use it too! Or I could swap you for a handy Junee teatowel. Or a pair of cleats.

  8. Thanks for the link but don't sign me up--I don't need one. Now it would be fun to see the bag you won from me go to another home. I love that sort of thing so my feelings sure won't be hurt. Spread the love!
