Bunny Update and The Tomato Situation

Two of the babies have their eyes open. One of the white babies is definitely and albino. Its' eyes are very pink. Fat boy has dark eyes like mom and dad. The last one is white and still has its' eyes closed tight.

Now, I wonder, dad is black and white and mom is brown and white. Hum, albino twins? Do rabbits have milk men?

Does anyone else think the media is overreacting to the tomato situation? Apparently, cherry, grape, vine attached varieties are supposed to be okay. Take is seriously, but don't scare people into not eating healthy fruits and vegetables. I am seeing a fantastic trend around here. Several home gardeners are selling their extra produce. These roadside stands consist of nothing more than a card table and an honor cash box. I bought beautiful yellow squash and tomatoes yesterday. I will keep buying like this until my own garden begins producing enough for our family. Maybe I will have some to sell. This is doubtful, as we love our veggies. I also buy our eggs from fellow master gardeners who keep chickens. As I might have whined about before, Manly Man will not let me have even one chicken. Sigh.

  1. I just hate how the news totally blows everything out of proportion. Seriously folks, don't cause a panic please. All we need is information, how to fix the problem, that kind of stuff. Geez!

  2. I guess I'm going to die cause I have no clue what ya'll are talking about with the fruit and tomatoes. I've heard two responses now--yours and ofb's. If you weren't in my garage today or at blotanical---then I didn't hear anything. I hardly ever have that stupid tv on. I hate that thing. It broadcast idiot news anyway. Its all doom and gloom.

  3. Good job anna, keep the boob tube off. A few people purchased yucky tomatoes and got sick. Now the media says we are all going to die it we eat a tomato. You nailed it "all doom and gloom."

  4. When I grow up I want to sell veggies on the side of the road and have chickens. Dream big dreams. Right? Gardens are a lot of work but that is work that we enjoy doing so that is my goal!

And yes the whole tomato thing is blown totally out of proportion. Everything is with the media these days.

  5. Hi Shalla, we both have the same idea of our "grown up" version of myself. I, however, need to get on with it or I won't be grown up until I am old and gray.

Agreed about the media. It has gotten silly.

  6. Someone called me the other day and asked me about the tomato/salmonella scare. I haven't heard too much about it though. I guess they don't talk about stuff like that on Animal Planet.....

  7. Haha, animal planet. Some of the tomatoes were sold in Tarrant County, which is close to here. Therefore the local news makes it sound like we are all going to die.

  11. No chickens?! Blasphemy!!! Poor Manly Man has obviously had some benighted childhood chicken experience that has warped him for life. Chickens are easy, colorful, fun, and personable. The Monkeys would love them--and so would MM, once he got to know them. They're so rewarding!!! He just needs to meet a few happy, healthy, smart, well-kept chickens. Don't give up!!!

  12. I'm not, but I did make some sort of weird no more animal promise and then tested it bringing home the goldfish. I should lay low for a while.
