Things have gotten out of hand. The Monkeys have been allowed to run amok and their stuff is everywhere. My front porch was a disgrace.
Skateboards, roller blades, and socks were everywhere. That's right, I said socks. Someone took their socks off on the front porch and left them there. One of my containers was knocked over and broken. The plants looked pitiful. There was a table I found on the side of the road and brought home. Don't know why it was upside down.
Now isn't that better. A little paint, a broom, and a few more plants from the back deck and the front porch looks a lot like a gardener might live here.
Please ignore the black paint. I don't know what they were painting and pretty sure I don't want to.
Maybe this is too much of a good thing. Our good neighbors really filled this compost up. The bunnies are getting nervous. I am going to create a dry shade garden behind our back fence. I will take some of those grass clippings and use them to start the new beds. A four to six inch layer of them should make a nice mulch. When the time comes to plant, the soil should be perfect.
Tomorrow, I take on the deck. Believe it or not, it is worse. Anybody else have a mess they need to clean up? Please share, it will make me feel better.
Looks so nice now Debbi!
ReplyDeleteMy house has been a mess lately. Been so busy playing outside I've been ignoring inside. Yesterday I went through here like the proverbial white tornado, and it looks much better now.
Feel better?
Not socks! Not socks!!!! Actually, I think the "after" looks great, too. Maybe you need a "before" to really appreciate how good it looks. Speaking of which, guess I'll go clean the birdcages now...
ReplyDeleteYes, Garden Girl, much better.
ReplyDeleteHi ofb, the top picture was the before. Hmm, maybe I need to try again.
It's my fault---I know the top photo was the before, I was generalizing. I should have said "Maybe one needs a 'before' to really appreciate...," but even I hate saying things like that. Sorry I confused you, though!
ReplyDeleteofb, I get it. Sometimes it takes me a minute. hahahaha
ReplyDeleteOh the joy of boys! lol That's what my garage looks like. :) Your porch looks great now Debbie and I love that cast-off table you found. Your compost pile runneth over, no wonder the bunnies are scared. ;)
ReplyDeletepgl, the joy and the irritation. I like the way it looks much better now. I wouldn't put that table inside, but it works great as a plant stand. That compost pile is out of control - imagine that.
ReplyDeleteAw, the fun of having boys! Mine love to do this to our garage as well as their rooms and don't even get me started on their bathroom... You can always tell where they have been by the mess they leave behind!
ReplyDeleteCynthia, we cannot talk about the bathrooms. lalalalalala.
ReplyDeleteOh geez, that's NOT a mess. You could see a real mess in my garage or basement. I could make you feel wonderful, but I'm too lazy to dig up the pictures I took. Maybe once I get everyone shipped off to school tomorrow. Maybe I should send my kids down there to teach your kids how to make a proper mess. LOL. Or Speedy, here she comes with Peanut's stuffed animals again.
ReplyDeletecinj, I have feeling your crew combined with mine might be able to make an epic mess. hahahaha
ReplyDeleteI love before and after pictures Debbie .. and that was a great post .. and a HUGE WOW to the compost !! no wonder the buniies are getting nervous girl ! haha
ReplyDeleteDry shade is a bit of a problem for me too, in a section .. I'll be interested to see what you do there : )
Mess? Oh no, not ME! My whole house is a disaster...imagine if your boys had their own house and cleaned it whenever they felt like it. Yea, THAT bad! Feel better? :)
ReplyDeleteIf I had only known! Our living room & great room were virtually impassible with toys. Yesterday we straightened most of it up, so no photos for you. Before that it was the Great Rubber Chicken Innards Cleanup in the boy's room. Somehow, his rubber chicken exploded. (This falls under don't ask/don't tell.) The filling was tiny balls that rolled & bounced their way out of the dustpan. It would have made you feel so much better had you been able to see the truly terrible state of my house. (Instead of finding socks on the porch, I find them on the couch.) Can you ever have too much of a good thing? Possibly, but then whatever you don't use for the new bed will eventually break down & rot.
ReplyDeleteIt would take a lot of courage and abandon on my part to show the pics of our garage, and I don't have any little boys to blame it on. There is only me to blame. Have pics... but you may never see them! :)
ReplyDeleteHi joy, the compost pile is out of control.
ReplyDeleteHi lisa, I guess boys and mess just go together
Mr. McGregor's daughter, only in the blogosphere would you read something like exploded rubber chicken innards. hahahaha. Sounds like the mess that was made when one of the monkeys jumped of the bunkbed onto a bean bag chair and burst it.
Hi Barbee, I show my awful pictures because I have no pride or sense of boundries:)
Compost pile overboard. Look out bunnies. Messes & boys are hand in hand. With me it's the GGS. My boys were never that messy. Different times I guess.
ReplyDeletePorch looks great. I love the pot hangers on each side of your door. Where in the world did you find them? They are perfect.
lola, my oldest is ultra neat. His room is kept perfectly. The other two are like little mess making tornados. Those hangers were a gift from my MIL. She always buys me garden stuff. I am pretty sure it either came from Big Lots or the Dollar Store.
