I found this bloom today. It looks sort of like a day lily. The foliage looks a little like a rain lily. Guess what it is. Zephyranthes grandiflora or giant rain lily. Pretty cool. The flower is smaller than a day lily, but much larger than a rain lily. I have absolutely no idea where I got it or when I planted it. It rained today and it bloomed.
Thanks again to Carol at May Dreams Garden for hosting Garden Bloggers Bloom Day.
Beautiful flower! It's always so much fun to find something blooming you don't remember too much about!
ReplyDeleteThat's gorgeous! In much better shape than the ones I've got blooming up here too. I forgot all about it but I do have some interesting mushrooms growing around here. Next month I'll really have to start getting creative!

Wow Debbi! I'm so thrilled that you showed this! A dear friend just brought me a plant of Zephyranthes grandiflora from her visit to Monticello, and I had no clue as to what the flower looked like. Wow!!! Now I'm really looking forward to it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool present for you - and what another lovely benefit of some much-needed rain. It's beautiful -- I hope it spreads for you!
ReplyDeleteHi meadowview, I really love it.
ReplyDeleteThanks cinj, I saw your mushrooms. Dont eat them.
Your welcome Rhondi
OFB, glad you have this too.
Hi diana, I hope it spreads too. I am definitely going to watch it and try to get divisions.
Very pretty! Does it smell nice, too?
ReplyDeleteThat is so pretty! But wait, I don't even like pink. LOL! Drats, I forgot about GBBD. Not sure we have anything blooming. --Curmudgeon
ReplyDeleteLisa, I didn't smell it. What is wrong with me. Dang.
ReplyDeleteCurmudgeon, there is a secret mission to make you like pink:)
Yes! It is bold and quiet all at the same time. I love it. I missed GBBD this month. I have the lame excuse of a kidney stone.
ReplyDeleteHi anna, A kidney stone is no lame excuse. I witnessed one put my big bad daddy on the floor, seriously.
ReplyDeleteBonus of the day lily look alike. It lasts more than one day. Yeah!!!
That's what I call "rain lilies" around here. I grow them in containers because they aren't hardy enough for our winters.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing yours for bloom day!
