Crimes Against Onions

Posted by Picasa

Some monkey or another pulled up a bunch of half grown onions and threw them on the front lawn. This crime has Baby Monkey written all over it. He is going to eat those onions.

So tell me internet, what is the appropriate punishment for crimes against onions?

  2. How about peeling and chopping all the onions you need for a month's worth of dinners? I'm assuming Monkeys aren't immune to tears when they prepare them!

  3. Okay, he can eat them, and peel and chop for a month; AND replace the missing onions ~ replant the same amount that were vandalized!

  4. Nola and I have discussed how you are just the funniest blogger out there, Deb. Those monkeys of yours keep us in stitches. I don't know the proper punishment for this. I know my daughter tells her five year old son that the deer his grandpa and father hunt are just like Bambi. I don't know how this would equate to an onion though.

  5. Eating of an onion raw might be a good punishment if a baby monkey doesn't like raw onions! Then again, it might make the monkey pull up even more onions!

  6. Nola, He likes to eat them. Cutting them up might work. I wish they were red onions.

    Linda, Imagine that.

Brenda, I don't I can count on bambi cuteness sympathy for an onion. Glad y'all are enjoying the antics.

Diana, He loves raw onions so we really don't want to encourage that. For a NORMAL child it would a perfect punishment.

  7. Aww Mom it was an accident! At least that's what I always heard when something happened around here. How about some new onion sets and having him help you plant them?? At least they were still okay to eat.

  8. Beckie, Very good suggestion.

Okay everyone here is what I did. I pulled out a gardening book and made him copy the section on the planting, care, and harvesting of onions. There was much pulling of hair and nashing of teeth. Bet he won't do it again. Scared of what he will do next.

  9. Shame, shame! I think making the punishment fit the crime! Make him plant his own- by seed- and have to take care of them for a loooong time! You know, we all have much more respect for things when we have to work for them!

  10. Tessa, Growing onions from seed is hard. I will add it on as his probation.

  11. Ha! Another classic! I'm surprised he didn't try to blame it on the dog or cat. A bad but honest Monkey. Things could be worse!

  12. OFB, Apparently he was going to eat them, but his brother made him mad. What?

  13. Weeding! Or replanting, or eating raw! Oh, I'm thinking of my own little monkey (18yo)!
Just how old is your little monkey anyway?
Bet you were surprised to see these:)

  15. Perfect punishment! Educational and just aggravating enough to be effective.

  16. Cook'em up. Have him make onion and potato soup. Serve the whole family, and get those kitchen skills started. Never too early to get that sexy kitchen skill set learned.

    (As in:
Monkey - WHY are you making me DO this?
Aunt Debbie - Some day you will thank me.)

  17. Cindy, I know. He is writting an essay on not pulling up the onions. Seriously.

  18. How about making him spread the fertilizer next time around? And make sure it's really stinky stuff---get it "fresh from the farm!" That might deter him from pulling things up again. Love the posting (and "Shadow Debbi" reference).
