Happy Spring Y'all

We spotted our first blue bonnet on the side of the road today. This means that spring has arrived in Texas. Happy Spring, Y'all

March GBBD

I dedicate my March Garden Bloggers Bloom Day post to my striped mud boots, which made the picture taking possible. We are still wet and muddy as well as grey and cold, but a lot of things have started blooming. The pictures in the collage starting at the top left and going clockwise: My fancy mud boots, Joseph Schwartz rose, Shasta daisy, grape hyacinth, Maggie rose, yellow snap dragon, Abraham Darby (a David Austin rose), Mutabalis rose, and the volunteer red bud tree.

Thanks again to Carol of May Dreams Garden for hosting Garden Bloggers Bloom Day.

Sucker

Isn't this a pretty sight? A newly prepared bed just waiting for sweet potatoes slips. Soon, very soon.
Well lookie there, my photography skills just improved big time. There is this button on my camera that has a picture of a flower on it. Pushed the button, and the thing focused on the bloom. Yes, it has been there the whole time. Durr.

I was wondering why my peach tree was blooming all funky. There were blown blooms, mature blooms, and buds all over the tree. What's up with that. Well we have a sucker. The root stock sent out a shoot and it bloomed earlier than the rest of the tree. I need to get out there and cut it off.

This is my first attempt at reverse applique. What do you think?

Jammy Weekend.

Posted by Picasa
It is cold outside. The rain has been coming down for three days. Our yard and garden have areas of standing water. The picture shows standing water in the garden pathway. The bunnies look sad. Abby wants out, goes out and wants back in. The manx are pissed. I am declaring this a jammy (pajamas for grownups without kids) weekend like Nola did a couple of days ago. Warm jammies, fluffy robe, fuzzy socks, and slippers are the dress code. Activities will include sipping a warm drink while reading under a warm quilt snuggling a monkey. Hot tea is the official beverage. Chili will be the main dish. Hope you are staying warm.

Just Because I Can

Here is a picture from the early days of this blog. Baby Monkey took this picture with my camera. We are pretty sure this squirrel is a boy. Imagine my surprise when I uploaded that set. The Wenches paid me back by posting a picture of a raccoon from the same angle, also a boy. Linda at Meadow View Thymes wanted to know if our potting bench baby squirrel, BS, is a boy or a girl. We don't know yet, but we will let you know if we ever find out.

Now I think there have been enough pictures of critter nads to last us a long time.

I Tried, I really Tried

That baby squirrel won't stay out from underneath the potting bench. We even cleaned it out to make it less appealing. The baby ran up a near by tree and waited a while and then came right back. Teenage Monkey was still sorting pots and the squirrel moved right back in. I think Momma squirrel may have moved on so the baby is on it's own. We left it some pecans and water and left the potting bench in such a way that it can hide from the cats. In the meantime, I guess we have a squirrel to add to the menagere. I should be able to snap some pictures if it continues to insist the potting bench is home.

Now, what are we going to call it?

Nola already tagged it Baby S. Any other suggestions?
