What a Mess

Things have gotten out of hand. The Monkeys have been allowed to run amok and their stuff is everywhere. My front porch was a disgrace.

Skateboards, roller blades, and socks were everywhere. That's right, I said socks. Someone took their socks off on the front porch and left them there. One of my containers was knocked over and broken. The plants looked pitiful. There was a table I found on the side of the road and brought home. Don't know why it was upside down.

Now isn't that better. A little paint, a broom, and a few more plants from the back deck and the front porch looks a lot like a gardener might live here.

Please ignore the black paint. I don't know what they were painting and pretty sure I don't want to.

Maybe this is too much of a good thing. Our good neighbors really filled this compost up. The bunnies are getting nervous. I am going to create a dry shade garden behind our back fence. I will take some of those grass clippings and use them to start the new beds. A four to six inch layer of them should make a nice mulch. When the time comes to plant, the soil should be perfect.

Tomorrow, I take on the deck. Believe it or not, it is worse. Anybody else have a mess they need to clean up? Please share, it will make me feel better.

June Block of the Month and a Bunny

The June block of the month is the baskets on the left. The top block is a completer my mom had to finish for me because I had a fit and fell in it. I was threatening to quit making the completer blocks. She felt bad for getting me into this mess and is trying to help me. On the right is the first block (actually circle) for my niece's wedding quilt. The colors are too dark in this picture. The fabrics are burgundy and plum prints in the dark rings with gold and plum floral prints in the light ring.

Here is a gratuitous "aw look at the baby bunny picture." Isn't she cute, I mean the rabbit, but the girl cousin is cute too.

Here are a few pictures of Middle Monkey, one of his hibiscus blooms, and a couple of bunnies. The other bunny had dirty feet and a squirmy attitude. The brown bunny is fat boy. He has grown too big to hold in the palms of our hands.

No, my child does not have a tiny head. Those flowers are really that big. We thought it would be fun to see other big flowers and plants and pets. Even better, pictures of big plants and pets. Baby Bunnie Pictures Are Here

Here they are more than a week old and getting some fur. They are really hoppy even though their eyes are still closed. The brown one is a perfect blend of mom's color and dad's markings. We are calling it "Fat Boy." It is bigger than the others.

Middle Monkey found a bifurcated carrot. He fed it to mommy bunny, Starr.

Sometimes, I Feel Like This

I am back home from Conroe. We had a blast. I will post more about the trip in the next few days.

Yesterday I received a few phone calls from Manly Man and the Sisters. First Baby Sister became engaged Saturday morning. Her man purposed on a hike outside of Albuquerque. Her ring is gorgeous and he is the nicest guy. It is a long story, but he managed to get a ring that was first seen in Canton, Texas but was actually for sale in Longview, Texas. He managed to buy it and have it mailed to him in Albuquerque NM. I must explain that he never actually saw the ring before he purchased it. He picked out the ring she wanted from a couple of bad cell phone pictures. He kept this a secret from our busy body family for six weeks and was able to surprise Baby Sister on a mountain. Good job West Man, GOOD JOB.

Later in the day, Manly Man called. First was the news that gasoline is being stolen from our vehicles. Someone siphoned gas from my truck while he was asleep. To top that off MY RABBIT WAS PREGNANT. As you may know, Lucy is now Mario, and Starr is still Starr. Well yesterday, Starr started pulling out her belly hair. Today I came home to three surviving baby bunnies. She is a first time mom, so we will have to wait and see how this turns out. Mario has been banished to the dog kennel for really bad behaviour and hiding his true gender for nearly a year. BAD BUNNY, VERY VERY BAD.

April Fools: Gardening With Monkeys

ACT I

The monkeys came home from school in rare form. As I have mentioned before, they are not funny when they are trying to be funny. Here are a few examples of April Fools "Jokes" they shared with me.

"I will not make you popcorn anymore" - APRIL FOOLS

"May I set fire to your garden?" - APRIL FOOLS

"May I throw this rotten apple at the village idiot?" APRIL FOOLS

ACT II

After the "I don't love you" I slipped out into the garden to weed and be by myself in the quiet. They found me. First one put a fake spider on my shoulder. This worked the first time, but they have done it about 400 time since then.

Now we have this wonderful dialog.

Baby monkey, "Mom"

Me, "What?"

Baby Monkey, "Mom"

Me, "What?"

Baby Monkey, "Mom."

Me, WHAT?????

Baby monkey, "I love you."

ACT III

Middle Monkey asks to hold a rabbit. Okay, kid knock yourself out. Ten minutes later - MOM, MOM, MOM, MOM I SAW LUCY'S NUTS. LUCY HAS NUTS. Kid hands me an upside down bunny. As I may have mentioned before, Lucy is not a girl. I did not, however, share this information with my boys. I check out the rabbit equipment and declare Lucy a boy. They recovered and renamed him Mario. Then they bring me the other rabbit to be examined. No bunny balls can be seen. Starr is still a girl. Now they want to know when we are going to have babies. As an encore, the newly renamed Mario escaped and hid under an overgrown rose bush. It took us 20 minutes to get him out.

ACT IV

Things I had to say for the rest of the hour.

"Don't lock you brother in the rabbit hutch."

"Get out of the rabbit hutch."

"Get down from on top of the rabbit hutch."

"Do not put your brother under the wheelbarrow."

"Get that 2 gallon container off of your head."

"Don't throw onions into the street."

Help me somebody please help me.

Here are Lucy and Starr enjoying the first day of Spring and getting ready for the big day.

My Earliest Post Ever

I am up at midnight and will be up until 3:00 am. We have rain water half way up the front yard and it is at J's granny's front door. Somebody needs to come over here and build an arc or at least bring a row boat that can hold one chunky woman, three boys, two cats, two rabbits, and a german shepherd. Maybe we could go to Canada or Oklahoma? Meme is on high ground, but I am afraid that chrishanda might have a problem with that.

Bunny Drama

Okay, I have problem. I love our bunnies. So it's about 11:00 and we have sleet in our forecaste. So I go outside, in the dark in the middle of the night again to put the bunnies in a carrier and bring them inside. Well, as you know, my coordination has not progressed much. I got Starr in the carrier (she is the squirely one) and I was holding Lucy, she is our lovin bunny. I came out of the garden and put Starr in the carrier on the deck rail and went to open the door. In that attempt, I knocked Starr in her carrier into the Joseph Schwartz rose bush on the other side of the deck rail. Pandemonium in sued with the German Shepard, the pair of tailless cats, and the Manly Man all participating. The bunnies are fine and inside. I did not fall down in the night, I just dropped the bunny.

It happened again

It happened again. I felt sorry for the bunnies because it is cold outside. I went out to the garden to give them a banana. They like bananas, but they fight over them. I cut them in half to avoid this, but they still fight over one of the pieces. I've done my part. I cannot make these two bunnies any smarter. Aaannywaay, it is really really dark in my garden at 11:00 at night. I had to sidestep a tailless cat and then went "behind over teakettle" (watering can) and down behind the broccoli. I know you were out there. I heard you snicker.

I wonder if I can spin this into solar garden lighting. Baby are you reading this. I know you don't want the mother of your children to fall down at night outside by herself in the cold dark garden because she feels sorry for rabbits. Well sure, I could just put the watering can away. No, I have not been drinking. Really.

Almost went down in the night.

We keep the rabbits in the back of the garden between the regular compost bin and the worm bin. I felt sorry for them tonight because it is so cold and went out to make sure they had plenty of water and food. Well they were out of water and they are always hungry. On my way back inside to refill the water bottle, I tripped on an old 6" container and almost fell into the borage (a medicinal herb). I made it inside and got their water and food back out to them, but boy was I embarrassed. I don't know who I think will see me out in the garden on a freezing Tuesday night at 10:00, maybe just the rabbits. I guess I just gave anyone who happens on this blog a pretty funny visual.

Here is a picture of Michael with Lucy. She is nice and gets to come inside sometimes. Her sister Star is not nice, and does not get to come inside. They make great compost (rabbit crap)
