June GBBD Hardy Hibiscus

Just in time for GBBD this month, one of Middle Monkey's hardy hibiscus plants bloomed. This is Malvaceae Hibiscus moscheutos. I think this one is Moy Grande. My hands are pretty little, but even so, that is one big flower. We have four other varieties. Next month maybe the Meme will bloom.
Thanks to Carol at May Dreams Garden for hosting GBBD each month.

  4. Gorgeous! That flower reminds me of a picture I took of my mom and son at Munsinger Gardens a few years ago. I don't have any flowers that huge in my garden.

  6. Hi Aunt Debbi, nice hibiscus and totally rockin' toad from Friday! Wow. Over here we have the Cane Toad - disastrous environmental pest. We Aussies HATE them.

Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment! And thanks for the linky love - some of your friends have been brave enough to check out my terrible bug story.

We really think the saga is over this time.

  7. GdeE, you post on bedbugs was perfectly timed with some minor critter disasters here and in Pensylvania(did I spell that wrong ofb?). I saw something on the Cane toad, looked like a real mess.

  13. Sometimes you've just got to have big blooms. That's a pretty one. My mom had to get a couple of those large blooming Hibiscus because she has poor eyesight & she wanted to be able to see the flowers from the window. They sure make a person take notice.

  19. Hi Aunt Debbi! Yes, it looks like our grass is bigger than your flower. But your flower is way prettier! You know, TX would be a great place to grow this grass stuff--you all have lots of space and your state motto is "Bigger is better" after all. I really wonder what people are thinking planting these monstrosities in the middle of urban Seattle. --Curmudgeon
