It's so Hot....

The devil went home until it cools off.
Chickens are laying fried eggs
You discover that the car seat belt buckle is now a branding iron

The heat makes me feel about as sexy as socks on a chicken.
Hope this does not reignite the stock wars.

102 degrees with a heat index of 104. It is not a dry heat. I feel like I am living in a vegetable steamer basket. How hot is it where you are?

  1. That is so funny. It's humid here too. I went out to take pics earlier and melted. Hey--I'm watching your picture show on the sidebar while typing---so very cool. Love your pots.

  2. Thanks anna, Those are pictures from last summer. Unfortunately, it has been so dry for the last month that everything looks pretty pitiful right now.

  3. It's "only" in the 70's here, but with a dewpoint just about equal to that it probably wasn't the best day to play tennis. I suppose I should have included that in my advise column.

Too funny, I can identify with those.

  5. I've felt the branding irons! The vegetable steamer comment is about right down here in TN. I was outside on Sunday morning between 7:00-8:00 and it was so humid I gave up on being outside all day.

  6. It's 77 here right now, but it was hot this afternoon. Tomorrow it is suppose to be about 94 but with the heat index it will be 104 degrees. I'm staying in tomorrow! I hope it cools off soon for all of us. We've been getting thunderstorms and some rain, but it just makes it muggier.

  7. cinj, the idea of doing any kind of recreational exercise right now is scary. You are braver than I.

Hey Nancy, We need a break too. Accourding to the weatherman, no relief in sight.

Hi dave, I only go outside when I absolutely have to.

PG, wish we could have a little of your rain. I have to water in this steam bath.

  8. That is funny but I am sorry it is so hot. I am not a fan of the heat.

  9. Hi Debbie, I liked your metaphors. Like Dave, in TN it has been pretty unbearable to be outside. Just picking the produce is a steam bath, with all those prickly squash, tomato and cucumber stems sticking to sweaty arms and legs. After being out of town, the zucchini are as big as watermelons instead of eight balls. LOL

  10. Layanee, I hate the heat. Guess what, I am just as whiney when it gets to be a little cold in the winter.

Hi frances, that sounds just about as bad as picking okra right now. Horrible little spines stick to damp skin. zucchini the size of watermelon have happened around here too.

I don't know who keeps commenting and deleting. Hope there is no weirdness.

  11. About the same here, hitting 100, 80 when you wake up... pushing 105 with the humidity. Sucks after all the nice weather last month.

    We feel your pain.

  12. I completely understand..it's just too hot to be outdoors. It's been in the high 90's and the humidity makes it feel like you're in a sauna. Can't wait for Fall.

  13. Okay, if I tell you how hot it is here promise you won't throw socks at me. it's 60. it's overcast and has been spritzing off and on all morning--nothing you'd get out your umbrella for here.

We have tons of small peppers, tomatoes you need a magnifying glass to see, no sign of cukes, zukes or squash.

  14. Hi Rhonda, I know, but it is a sauna I can't get out of.

Curmudgeon, virtual socks are being hurled at you at this very moment:) I am so very jealous. We won't see cool weather again until last September or October.

  15. Nothing like as hot as you guys (in the 80s), but the humidity makes me feel like I'm living in a hot flannel at the moment...

Laughed at your sock analogy - a very brave statement to make under the circumstances ;)

  16. Hi vp, The 80's would feel like a cold snap around here, but I understand about the humidity. I just can't leave the sock situation alone.

  17. Before the rain, it was 105 degrees day before yesterday. So hot you could fry an egg on the sidewalk. Makes me feel cranky.~~Dee
