GBBD Febuary 2009

Posted by Picasa

Today is garden bloggers bloom day over at May Dreams Garden hosted by Carol. I imagined that many post will be about daffodils and other spring blooming bulbs. Mine will be more of the same. The collage shows the daffodils I have blooming right now. They include, jonquil, Earlicher, Minnow, and another large daffodil, which I cannot remember the name of. This year I am keeping a notebook where I will keep track of what is going on in my garden. Hopefully, I will not have large gaps in my garden memory in the future. If anyone can identify the large daffodil in the top center photo of the collage, please let me know what it is. Also in the collage is a picture of my Valentine's bouquet from Manly Man as well as the seed head from my cardoon plant.

Hop on over to Carol's Blog and check out what other bloggers have blooming now.

  1. For those of us still in the throes of winter, your daffodils are a welcome sight. You can show as many as you want, Debbi!

  2. Deb - I won't get daffodils until next month. I see we both have Minnow :)

Thanks for taking part in the photo meme - it was great to meet the Monkeys as their younger selves as I've only seen them so grown up in comparison.

  3. PS I got daffodils as my Valentine's bouquet. That's not a patch on yours, but a vast improvement on the usual zero flowers!

  5. Gosh spring is certainly further on with you than here. I grow Minnow too - I like the little flowerheads. A beautiful Valentine's Day bouquet - you must have purred :)

  6. No daffodils here yet Deb, but soon! Wish I could help with the id of your unknown one. Sorry. Love the bouquet Manly Man gave you for Valentine's Day. Beautiful! Happy Bloom Day. :)

  9. I love chocolates and your bouquet is the sweetest colors. Your dafs are grand and sunny. We only have a few and none in my yard. I enlarged you photo and could not figure out what the middle right picture is?? Is that the seed head you were talking about? If so--it's huge.

  10. You know, I've been meaning to keep such a journal for a long time. Last year I took a ton more photos than normal and that helped somewhat with when things bloomed. But I think jotting down other kinds of notes will be helpful, too, especially as I don't update my blog as often as most. Plus, it's always fun to buy a nice new notebook! :)

  11. Hi Debbi, your daffodils are fabulous! Keeping track of the blooms is a noble effort. I always start off well, then around May just forget all about writing things down! There is too much going on in the garden that needs tending. Maybe this will be the year to correct that. :-)

  12. Thanks Rose.

VP, The Minnows were my first daffs. Glad to hear about your valentine's bouquet.

Dee, It shouldn't be too much longer for you.

Anna, You, me, and vp can start the minnow daff club:) I purred and he is a happy hubby.

Racquel, Thanks, he always does well. Hope you see daffs soon.

  13. Diana, thanks. For the last thirteen years valentines day has been a blessing.

Anna, Thanks for giving it a shot. I need to talk to the lady who runs our fall bulb sale. She will know.

Monica, I gluing seed packets into as I plant them then noting the date. Later I am updating date of germination etc. So far so good, but there is no telling what will happen when everything gets to going fast in the spring.

Francis, I am really going to try to give it a shot. Maybe there is a book in it?

  15. My daffodils are still tiny little shoots just peaking out of the ground, so it was nice to see yours.

Thanks for joining in for bloom day!
