First Lemon Basil Harvest of Summer 09

Posted by Picasa

Nothing smells better than fresh picked lemon basil. We will behaving pesto and Italian fried chicken for dinner. I will also make a tomato, mozzarella and basil salad with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Maybe a bowl of tomato basil soup for a snack this afternoon.

Have y'all got any great basil recipes?

  2. MMM. Sounds yummy. I've never tried growing my own herbs or anything before. Tried this year but I fried my poor seedlings. Maybe next year I'll have better luck.

  3. I can't seem to grow basil, well sometimes I can. I love homemade pesto, the bottled stuff just doesn't cut it.

I have a glut of coriander (cilantro) trying to figure out what I can do with that?

  4. Yum!! I love basil in lasagna. I also think basil is good chopped and sprinkled on sliced tomatoes, then topped with crumbled feta cheese.

  7. Brenda, the lemon scented herbs are my favorites too. We should go to Blue Moon when your better and buy lemon scented geraniums.
