Forcing Broccoli

Posted by Picasa

Now, I know you do not grow broccoli to eat. You grow broccoli for the lovely yellow flowers. You did not go out in the garden two days ago and cut broccoli thinking you could bring it inside and wait a few days to eat it. You put it in a glass of water on purpose just so you could have broccoli blooms. You were not attempting to keep the broccoli fresh and ready for stir fry. This was intentional and you will do it again. So will I. Wink-wink

  2. I didn't know you could do that--but why not! Kale in the garden gets pretty yellow flowers. Ok--I am buying brocolli and getting flowers. (I love it though--hope I can restrain myself from eating!) :)

  7. I had absolutely no idea that would happen! Though, I'm surprised I haven't found out by mistake! You did see my potatoes, right?

  8. I didn't know this either! Amazing what you can learn from online friends. Broccoli has just been stepped up in my list of veggies to like for more than eating!

  9. Tink, I know.

Linda, we should have eaten it.

Joy, they are real and really cute.

Amanda, I am going now to google brocciflowers

Cinj, this was absolutely not an accident. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

Moma, I'm tellin you, you've got a little gardener in you.

Brenda, they do make cute flowers.

    Thanks, My Little Family.

  10. Debbi -- What a creative plan you had so you could share the bloom photos with us! Much of my veggie gardening ends up being like a science experiment of sorts -- actually eating the food is a plus!
